Description

Perpetua: A Bride, A Martyr, A Passion
A Novel by Amy Rachel Peterson

"... If I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing ..."

Perpetua, a wealthy noblewoman just coming of age in Carthage, discovers Jesus at a time when Christians are being thrown to the beasts in city ampitheaters for sport. Rejecting the gods of the ancient Roman Empire, she embraces a passionate relationship with Jesus and falls in love with a man who shares her faith. Together they navigate the treacherous, bloodthirsty waters of the social culture, but every step seems to take them closer to the ultimate sacrifice.

I screamed. B'al's statue seemed alive. A path opened through the crowd, and I stood alone before him. He knew me. I flung my head back, letting the hood fall, and slowly raised my arm, pointing steadily at his image. "You," I cried aloud, "are not God!"

Great historical fiction September 5, 2007
Reviewer: Heid Boehmer from Huntington, WV United States
Peterson writes a beautiful, exciting, challenging story. I've given this book to many people in different life journeys and EVERYONE has loved. I had not known Perpetua's story but have researched her writings since Peterson introduced me to this amazing woman.

This is what you would expect from RELEVANT published fiction; engaging, worthwhile, honest.
